It have some changes happening within our classroom. We will be moving to using Google Classroom for many of our assignments. Once this transition happens, it will be easier for you to see what your child is doing in class, and help them at home if they have missing assignments. I am hoping this change occurs within the next couple weeks. The students got their first taste of this earlier this week with their Tom Sawyer quiz online.
Tomorrow is our class elections! Since we are learning about the three branches of government, I decided to hold our own elections. Students are trying for President, Speaker of the House, and Supreme Court Justice. Each position has its own unique responsibilities. I tried to keep these in line with what the real job does with our classroom. Students have been asked to prepare a one minute speech for tomorrow stating what makes a good leader. Part of becoming a leader in class is for the student to be a responsible, outstanding citizen, pledge to be on time in the morning (two of the jobs start at 8:30), work cooperatively with others, and will maintain good behavior. These positions will last through the month of February.
Maturation permission slips went home yesterday. If your child did not give it to you, please ask them for it. Additionally, missing work reports went home yesterday as well. Students have until Monday to turn in these missing assignments.
We are running very low on several classroom supplies. We are almost out of dry erase markers, sanitizing wipes, and post its. We use these supplies on a daily basis. If you would be able to donate any of these, I would greatly appreciate it. We are going to be using classroom computers daily in the near future. If you would be able to send your child in with their own set of headphones, I would appreciate it. I only have 2 for the class (although a few students have already brought in their own). These do not have to be expensive, and can be bought at the dollar store.
Thank you!
